I remember when I was a little girl and I didn't have much of a childhood. I was the oldest of four girls and my mom worked all the time. My dad was in our lives but everything we did or asked, we were told "go ask your mama." He didn't make any decisions and our family life was a bit dysfunctional.
I grew up very early and I took on a lot of adult jobs. I was in the first grade putting my sister and myself on the bus. By the time I was seven, I was cooking dinner and washing all the dishes at home. I had a lot of responsibilities very early.
As I grew up, I became a workaholic and I followed a lot of the patterns of my mom and other family members. My environment led me to feel like I needed to work myself to death literally because I wouldn't be able to live without a 9-5 job.
Matthew 18:1-5 says "About that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?” Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. Then he said, “I tell you the truth unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. “And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me" (NLT).
After going through a transformational period where I learned that working like that only caused me pain as I lived with chronic pain, chronic disease, and chronic fatigue. I no longer believe those limiting beliefs that kept me in a state of fear, anxiety, bitterness, and anger.

Getting to the place of no longer leading by our own efforts takes practice because anxiety is used to dictate what you pay attention to as well as your perspective. It’s a matter of patience and persistence as you develop a sense of gratitude to replace anxiety...
