Learning to Deal with Fear
Have you ever found yourself suppressing your emotions to manage the uncomfortable, overwhelming feelings and thoughts that are better off not dealing with right now? It does not work. When you try to push back emotional thoughts, you will end up having more thoughts about what you are not dealing with. I have been in this place trying to be okay with how I was feeling and even though I was giving my anxieties to God, but, I was praying, and then still trying to control the situation instead of releasing the heavy emotions of fear and anger back to God.

When you recognize fear, your amygdala, the small organ in the middle of your brain, goes to work. Your amygdala alerts your nervous system, which sets your body’s fear response into motion.

Adrenaline and cortisol are stress hormones that are released and your blood pressure and heart rate increases. You start breathing faster. Even your blood flow changes-blood flows away from your heart and into your limbs, making it easier for you to throw punches, or run for your life. Your body is preparing for fight or flight.

Fear is a complex human emotion that can be positive and healthy but can also have negative consequences. Hidden or unexpressed feelings become frozen into the structure of your body. This means a lot of negative emotions become stored along your spine and in the backs of your legs. Most powerful emotions like anger and fear are stored on your back.

When traumatic experiences are not consciously dealt with, they can result in chronic fear, stress, and even occurrences of PTSD. This chronic anxiety, anger, and grief tend to get stored within the body resulting in muscle tension which contributes to other illnesses like Fibromyalgia, digestive disorders, mental illnesses, and even cancer.
